Drone forces 20 aircraft to delay landing at Auckland Airport

A drone has forced 20 aircraft to delay their landing at Auckland airport with an Air New Zealand flight from Japan being forced to divert to another airport 500km away to re-fuel.

Drones being flown in controlled airspace by pilots without any awareness of airspace will continue to cause high risk situations, and inevitably, a collision between a drone and a passenger-carrying jet. Registration of drone users has been suggested as a solution.
